Three women wearing Lutheran church uniform have allegedly attacked John Maputla, real name Afrika Tswai, at Mall of the North in Polokwane two weeks ago for cheating on his wife Meiki. According to eye witnesses, Maputla was walking with a friend when the women pounced on him and asked why he cheated on his wife.
“It was funny and saddening at the same time. Maputla tried to explain that it was just a storyline but the women continued hitting him with their handbags. They told him he should lead by example because he has two sons,” said one eye witness who identified herself as Maria Mojapelo.
“People must learn to separate what they see on TV from real life. The poor man was attacked because of a mere storyline. I felt pity for him because he couldn’t run to save his life because of big mkhaba,” Maria continued.
A security guard who was on duty on the day confirmed the story. “I was there when it happened. I think those church ladies were drunk. How can you attack a man because of a story? They kept shouting “we will beat you until you break up with that cheap Charity. How can you cheat during Women’s Month?”. They were very angry. I had to call for backup to deal with the situation,” said the guard who didn’t want to be named.
Attempts to get a comment from both Skeem Saam and John Maputla were unsuccessful. Skeem Saam plays on SABC 1 at 18h30 from Monday to Friday.
